Hey friend —

Last week we walked into a place I didn’t want to go: confessing that I’m sick of me. I grumbled, I cried, I asked God why He won’t fix me. And in His kindness, He met me with words I didn’t expect — words of delight, not disappointment.

If you missed it, check it out here — you’ll want to start there. But on the latest episode - I wanted to go deeper.

It’s wild how uncomfortable I am being loved by God.

In this part 2, God’s been showing me that enjoyment isn’t just a feeling to chase — it’s actually a spiritual discipline. And honestly? I’ve never practiced it. I never even thought to.

We talk about the big ones — prayer, fasting, Bible study, worship — but what about solitude, self-reflection, silence, acts of service… enjoyment?
These aren’t attitudes. They’re practices. Things we do with intention so our hearts can rest in Him, not just run after Him.

THIS WEEK’S SACRED SOUL NOTE…

DATING JESUS

If you don’t know Him, that title might sound a little off to you.

But it’s music to my ears.

Joy to my soul.

Peace to my spirit.

So here’s to a weekend full of love, laughter, healing, joy, coffee, cramped hands from writing, singing…

This week’s scripture:

I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking [Him] in His temple.

— PSALM 27:4 (CSB)

JOURNAL PROMPT:

Which spiritual disciplines am I not considering — especially the ones that invite me to enjoy God — and why?

Follow-up Questions:

  1. Do I see enjoyment as part of my spiritual growth, or just a nice bonus?

  2. Which moments of delight from God am I brushing off or overlooking?

  3. How can I practice solitude, silence, or celebration in a way that draws me closer to Him this week?

  4. What would it look like to let delight guide my time with God, instead of just discipline?

SPOTIFY ENCOURAGEMENT:

Listen to and save my Spotify playlist “God is my FATHER” while you journal, reflect, or just sit in His presence.

How can I be praying for you?

Thank you for walking alongside me. I’d love to hear how God is meeting you in the practice of enjoyment—reply and share this with a friend who needs to hear it too.

Even in our mess, God’s delight in us never wavers. Let’s lean into His joy, His presence, and His faithfulness, and let Him turn our striving into rest, our frustration into freedom.

In joy,

Cheyenne
