Even the elders in Revelation fall before God, crowns in hand, and we are invited to do the same.

Casting these crowns remind us that every triumph, every honor, comes from the Lord.

Casting our crowns is a joy, a release, and a worshipful acknowledgment that God alone is forever and ever.

Revelation 4:10 paints such a powerful picture β€” the elders falling before the throne and laying their crowns down at the feet of Jesus. This week’s episode is an invitation to think about the β€œcrowns” we might be holding onto and what it looks like to lay them down in worship.

THIS WEEK’S SACRED SOUL NOTE…

My thorn in my flesh makes me feel dirty.

The sin of faithlessness.Β

The sin of trying to depend on my own understanding and human logic.

The sin of pride that always likes to lurk around and get into my mind.Β

The sin that I DO want His glory, the sin that I DO want people to look at me and go β€œwow”; the most destructive sin of all.

This week’s scripture:

❝

β€œTHE TWENTY-FOUR ELDERS FALL DOWN BEFORE HIM WHO SITS ON THE THRONE AND WORSHIP HIM WHO LIVES FOR EVER AND EVER. THEY LAY THEIR CROWNS BEFORE THE THRONE AND SAY:

β€œYOU ARE WORTHY, OUR LORD AND GOD,
Β  Β  TO RECEIVE GLORY AND HONOR AND POWER,
FOR YOU CREATED ALL THINGS,
Β  Β  AND BY YOUR WILL THEY WERE CREATED
Β  Β  AND HAVE THEIR BEING””

β€” REVELATION 4:10-11 (NIV)

JOURNAL PROMPT:

❝

What crowns am I holding onto that I need to lay before God?

Follow-up Questions:

  1. Which victories or accomplishments do I most identify with, and why?

  2. How does holding onto these β€˜crowns’ affect my relationship with God and others?

  3. Do I find it easier to surrender in some areas than others? Why?

  4. How might laying down my crown open me to deeper joy, unity, or freedom in Christ?

How can I be praying for you?
